Best for Last, Chapter 3

Saria started to twist her hair like she always did when she got nervous and relized it was a bit longer, not much, but enough for Saria to notice. She looked at her surrondings. It wasn't to shocking, except for the fact that there were barley any trees. Saria couldn't belive it when she saw a monstorous building in the distance. "That must be the castle," Saria thought to herself, "I'd better start looking for Link there, he did say something about Princess Zelda." Link had described Zelda quite well, so Saria was sure she would know what she looked like.

"Link, what is the matter?....No wait let me guess, upset stomach...okay, beat you too hard today...don't be shooting nasty looks at me....ah, I know...girl trouble," Link shot Sir West a wistful look and smiled as he thought of Saria. "Ha, I was right.....hmm....want to tell me about her." West gave Link a kind smile and Link sat up.

"Well, she was the person that brightened up my day and the one who seemed to make everything go right, even when they were obviously wrong," Link looked at the celing and sighed. Sir West gave him an 'is that all look' and he smiled, "Saria," West was satisfied enough and told Link he'd better get some sleep. He stepped out side and talked to his cousin.

"Tellie, the boy is head over heels. Poor kid had to leave all his family for a world unknown," Tellie nodded and gently kissed him on the head goodnight.

Saria knew it would take one day to get to the castle, if she walked day and night, so she decided to keep walking. She was getting close to a large building and could faintly read 'Lon Lon Ranch.' She continued walking for about forty minutes when the sun came down and the moon rose. Saria felt someone behind her, so she quickly got out her sling shot and turned around, nothing. She breathed a sigh of relief when something took a hold of her. She screamed. It was hideous. It looked like a childs skelton reaching out for her. She quickly ran as fast as she could to a nearby tree and with her experiance climbed it in no time. It was a small tree, but big enough for her not to fall. She was starving. She looked in her bag for a few berries. She ate a little and breathed heavy. She could still see the scary skeletons and took her mind off of it by playing her song softly. She fell alsleep.

"Link, wake up. The chicken crowed about 3 hours ago," Sir West looked at the young boy and shook his head. Once again 'Lazy Link' (his new nick name) was still in bed. Link popped one eye open, yawned and started getting dressed.

"So, what are we doing today?" Link questioned while pulling his tunic over his head. The brave night looked at him thoughtfully.

"We aren't doing anything....and get that glimmer of hope out of your eye, you don't have the day off....oh stop sulking you baby. I need to head to the castle in search of supplies and you need to get all of Tellie's chickens back.

"What the stupid things ran off again!" Link fell back on the chair and rolled his eyes, this was getting anoying. It seemed as if everytime he left the pen the stupid fat birds would go everyware. "When are you coming back from the castle?" Link asked West as the knight shrugged his shoulders.

"Duno, maybe the end of the day. That means that after you get all of those chickens back in their pen. Without teasing them,"

"Oh, you heard about that huh?" Link gave an inocent look to the knight.

"Yes, I heard. Tellie is my cousin you know. After you get all of the chickens taken care of you can go and have the rest of the day off,"

"Cool," a large smile apeared on Link's face as if he was just about to throw a bucket of water on the King and enjoy it.

"Without any mischief," Sir West gave Link a stern look and Link just rolled his eyes and went out to get those dumb white birds. Sir West just smiled as he left. "That boy may be the laziest person I know when it comes to getting out of bed, but he has spirt in anything he enjoys or sets his mind on,"

Saria walked on and into the market and she walked past the huge bridge.

"Welcome to Hyrule Castle Town. It's a peaceful, prosperous town," The solider smiled at Saria but she jumped up.

"Who or what are you,"

"Umm, huh? Oh, I get it your pretending to be a stranger, right. Okay, I'll play along. This is Hyrule Castle Town. And I'm a Hyrulian, sweetie," Saria backed away slowly and then ran in to the town square.

"What's an Hyrulian Sweetie?" Saria wondered to herself as she walked into the market. When she got there she was awe struken by the amounts of "Hyrulian Sweeties" there were. She decided to swallow her fear and ask the strange people about Link. She asked everyone she could find if they'd seen a young blond boy wearing a tunic and a hat. First she asked the "Hyrulian Sweeties" by this open canvas where they looked like they were grabbing things.

"Hey, let go! It's mine! I found it first!" Saria decided to ask someone who would pay more attention, she caught up to a little girl that looked a bit younger than her.

"I can't catch that Cucco!" Saria assumed she ment the plump bird she was chasing, so Saria just grabbed it and handed it to her. The little girl looked confused and dropped the bird and began chasing it again. Saria shrugged. She then asked a pretty girl with red hair who was humming. She explained to her that her name was Malon and she was waiting for her dad at Lon Lon Ranch. She said she saw someone with those clothes, but she didn't know where he was. She also invited her to come to the ranch sometime. Saria thanked her and decided she would after she found Link. She then asked a bunch of strangers, but they were to preoccupied with their own thoughts. Such as the princess and the temple of time. She met up with a man in a blue shirt talking to a similar man in a red shirt. They both were hysterical. She asked them about Link.

"Have you Hylian Sweeties, seen a boy about my age, in a tunic and a hat, both green?" The two men looked at each other and started laughing.

"No, little girl your one of a kind. And we are Hylians, not Hylian Sweeties. Someone must have been talking to you. An example lets say he was Larry. Then I would say, I'm a Hylian, Larry. Okay," The red shirted man was bawling out with laughter.

"But, my names not Larry," the man in the blue shirt pointed out, the red shirted man cracked up and started laughing and say some mean things about his "friend." Saria decided she'd better ask someone less stupid. She looked around and asked a boy shaking up and down, but all he could talk about was begging for something in a bottle. Saria was about to give up when she bumped into a tall Hylian. He had bright red hair and green eyes. He also had quite a build and to most people would be intimitating, but Saria just flashed him a large smile. He looked at her strangly, but she took no notice. He didn't seem evil the way Link told her of Ganondorf.

"Sir West of Amuli at your service my lady," Saria eyed the man funny when he said that. What was a lady?

"Saria....my lady?" Saria bit her lip when the man gave a genuine laugh, then his face lit up.

"Well, lady means girl," Saria's cheaks blushed a bit and Sir West just chuckled. "So, Saria where are you from.....wait let me guess Kokiri forest." Saria's face just brightened and she smiled wide.

"How?"

"Do you happen to know a boy from Kokiri?" Saria's bright blue eyes widened and she nodded trying not to get to excited, but it was too late. "Well, does he have blond hair and a green hat," Sir West toyed with the little girl.

"Yes!" Saria couldn't control it any longer she reached out and hugged the man. He smiled and look down at her as she asked the question she knew he knew the answer to. "Where is Link?" West thought for a moment.

"I don't know? I've never met a Link, before," Sir West grinned and Saria looked up at him and smiled.

"Funny your almost as funny as hat boy," she said in a sarcastic tone.

"Really, we have dubbed the lad Lazy Link," Saria grinned. "You come with me to that village over there and I'll take you to him." Saria gladley fallowed the strong knight straight to his horse and to the village.

Link stared at his opposition this time it was not going to get him down. He jumped on the chicken and landed right on his face, but he caught the chicken. Link heard clapping from Sir West and he imediatley bowed, even though his face was begining to hurt.

"Very nice young boy, but it took you all day to find that chicken." Link look down at his feet. "You've been goofing off all day haven't you?" Link shook his head.

"Okay, not all day."

"Well, I have a suprize for you lazy one, go give that cucco to Tellie and come back." Sir West watched as Link ran all the way to the chicken pen and instructed Saria to hide behind the fence. Saria's breathing was heavy. Link rushed back quickly. "Well, I guess with some insentive your not so Lazy after all?"

"Hey, come on what it is?" The moment Link said that Saria stepped out from behind the fence. "Saria?" Link stood there in shock and then rushed over and hugged the young green haired girl. She smiled.
