Mabe Village is really the first area of the game. You wake up in Marin and Tarin's house and start your adventure. There are no real enemies in Mabe Village, but if you hit the dogs they will fight back. And for all you Mario fans, no, Bow Wow doesn't bite.

Items

When you first gain control of Link, talk to Tarin and you'll get your shield.. Head to the Trendy Game and grab the Yoshi Doll. You can trade this the Ms. Papahl for a Bow. Give the Bow to the mini- Bow Wow for a Can of Dog Food. The Tool Shop is full of Items! The Ocarina can be found inside the Dream Shrine.

Notable Places

The Dream Shrine can be found in the northern part of the village. Inside the Dream Shrine is the Ocarina. The Fishing Pond Is in the Northwest part of the Village. You can catch a few fish, but don't expect to make a profit unless you can catch some Lunkers! The Trendy Game and Tool Shop are in Mabe Village. A Telephone Booth can also be found here, as well as Grampa Ulira's House. The Library can be found in the far west of the Village. After beating the Face Shrine, push against the Flying Rooster Statue and use the Frog's Song of Soul on the bones to ressurect the Flying Rooster.

Secret Seashells

Grab a shovel and dig around in Mini-Bow Wow's dog house for a shell Cut up the bushes in the bush field for a shell.

Heart Pieces

Head to the local fishing pond and catch a lunker for 20 rupees and a nice Heart Piece (note that only one of them has it.) It's also helpful to empty out the runts before you try for the Lunkers. In the Well, located in the west of the Village you can get a Heart Piece.

Photo Ops

• Peek into Grandpa Ulira's House at a window for a picture.
• Steal an item from the Tool Shop and get the Seventh Picture.
• While Marin is following you jump down the Well.
• Stand in front of the Flying Rooster Statue for a picture of you Marin and Tarin, while Marin is following you.
• When you return Bow Wow, the Photo Rat will get your picture.
