Kohilint Island is home to literally tons of different characters which play their own little part in the general storyline of the game. Whether their impact is good or bad, it makes the game more enjoyable. Below are brief descriptions and pictures for each important (and not so important) characters from Link's Awakening.

Marin This maiden from Mabe Village saved your life when she found you washed up on the beach. Marin bears an uncanny resemblence to Princess Zelda. She is a very musical woman who loves singing and yearns for life off the island. She has many friends among humnas, animals and even some among monsters. Marin plays an important role in the game as the girl who offers much help to you. She teaches you the Ballad of the Wind Fish and helps out with waking the Walrus.
Tarin Tarin is Marin's father. He bumbles a bit but is kind-hearted. He loves mushrooms and often goes into the forest in search of some for his dinner. Tarin gets in your way some times like as the impeding Racoon. Yet Tarin does play a role as the provider of the Honeycomb which is essential for progression in the game. Tarin's life seems to revolve around food and snacks.
The Owl This mysterious owl follows you throuhghout your adventure. He seems to know much about the world in general, including the Wind Fish. It is not known if the Owl is Kaepora Gaebora from Ocarina of Time. It is known though, that this Owl is a manifestation of the Wind Fishes dream and was sent to provide Link information on his quest by the Wind Fish.

Grandpa Ulira The old man is a walking encyclodpedia of Kohilint Island. He knows everything about the island! However, he is not very talkative and it can be difficult to get information out of him. His wife is the loud, old woman who loves sweeping the front of her house. If you want to get some help from Ulira, then go to your local Telephone Booth for an update.

Mr. Write He loves reading and is always writing letters. People say that he is writing to a charming young woman in a city far away. Doesn't he look a little familiar? WHO??? Mr. Write is the person who supplies Link with the broom. Other than that he really serves no purpose...

Crazy Tracy This moderately odd woman lives to the northeastof Mabe Village. They say she can create a variety of secret medicines. You should visit her house at least once on your adventure because of the secret medicine she sells that acts like a bottled fairy. The mintue you get the chance, head to her house and buy some!
