Chapter 5: Curse of the Magician
Nevertheless, the brother sought the Triforce of Power. A rumor then circulated that Princess Zelda knew where the Triforce of Power was (and she did2) and the brother, in a jealous rage hired his court magician to put Zelda in a sleeping spell if she did not tell him. Zelda pleaded that she did not know how to get it, but the brother was not satisfied. The magician put Zelda asleep and then dropped dead. Realizing what he had done, the brother decreed that all female children born into the family be named Zelda, and ruled using his Triforce's finally content. It was later said that the wizard was a servant of Ganon, carrying out the Evil King's wishes to curse Zelda and her descendants, but those rumors were never verified. Before he died, the brother hid the Triforce of Courage inside a palace he built beyond the "Valley of Death" to keep the sacred Triforce from the unworthy. The Triforce of Wisdom was passed down from the oldest female born in the family to the next. Hyrule's prosperity continued for another couple of centuries, but that was going to change.
